Meet Abu Hoque, a junior studying Learning and Organizational Change who is pursuing a career in banking. Along with being a member of AKPsi, he is also involved with Northwestern Investment Banking Club, the Muslim Student Association, and ISBE.

1. Why did you want to join AKPsi?

When I first learned about AKPsi, I was immediately drawn to the idea of finding a community of like-minded individuals with a shared passion for business. I knew that I wanted to surround myself with people who could help me grow both personally and professionally. As I began the recruitment process, I quickly realized that success would require more than just my own efforts. I needed a group of friends and mentors who would support and guide me every step of the way. That's precisely what I found in AKPsi. The organization provided a welcoming environment where I could connect with others who shared my interests and ambitions. I'm grateful to have found such an incredible network of individuals who have helped me become a better version of myself, both in and out of the classroom.

2. How has AKPsi influenced your career and experiences thus far?

I can honestly say that my experience with AKPsi's pledging process was instrumental in helping me navigate the world of business and recruitment. Through conversations with upperclassmen and the overall pledging process, I was able to discover a wide range of business opportunities, from investment banking to product marketing. As I learned more about these areas, I began to develop a deeper understanding of the business world as a whole. The foundation I built during pledging proved invaluable as I made decisions about my own career path. Ultimately, I decided to pursue a career in investment banking, and the knowledge and skills I gained during pledging have continued to serve me well in this field. I'm so grateful for the opportunities AKPsi has provided me and the lifelong connections I've made through this incredible organization.

3. What has been your favorite memory of your time in AKPsi?

When I reflect on my time with AKPsi, one memory stands out above all the rest: puzzle night. This event was truly unforgettable, as it gave me the chance to connect with my fellow pledge class members in a truly unique way. Spending over seven hours working on a puzzle together might sound daunting to some, but it ended up being a highlight of my time with AKPsi. Through the shared experience of problem-solving and collaboration, we were able to forge strong bonds that have lasted long after our time as pledges. Looking back, I'm so grateful for the friendships and memories that I've made through this incredible organization, and puzzle night will always hold a special place in my heart.
